San Francisco

We went to San Francisco this summer, and visited Sonoma/Napa Valley and some wineries. This is a picture taken in front of Domaine Chandon. They make sparkling wine here. It is a French winery, therefore they cannot call it Champagne. Back in the l930's all the wine makers around Europe held a conference and signed a treaty that unless you were from Italy, you could not call it Champage. Since the United States were in prohibition, they were not invited. So Champagne made in the states can be called Champagne. But Domaine Chandon still follows this treaty, and calls it's product Sparkling Wine.

This is my dream trip. We went to SF on our honeymoon (18yrs ago) but this was before I found my love for wine!!!
